Post 2. Got a similar problem, when the clutch is pressed there is a rattling noise and vibration, as I release the clutch the noise all but disappears asd does the vibration. Th dealer tells me it is the flexible flywheel and it is a big job to change and as a lot of work is involved it makes sense to change the clutch at the same time.
I have miles on, he also suggested "it is down to driving", I have been driving since and dones lots of miles in a few cars and have never needed a new clutch before. As I trawl these forums it occurs to me that this is a common problem and perhaps Volvo should look at the data maybe there is an inherent problem! U could build air, push the yellow button in and while holding the brake put it in gear and move the truck. The next time u make a complete stop the truck would not move at all. U could mess with it buy building air and tapping the brake pedal and eventually get it to move and it would shift and fun perfect till u make a complete stop. It seemed to me there was a connection between holding the brake pedal down to let the trans shift in at a complete stop.
Im not sure if there is an airline that goes from the foot valve to the trans that was causing this issue. The air app. The reason I ask about the trans is cause it only did this when u stop and make a gear selection and or just make a stop period. Trans shifts but the brakes are locked.
Maybe you have a problem with the hill assist staying on. Maybe the hill assist is staying active due to a bad brake switch. That could explain why pumping the brakes gets you moving. Take it to a dealer. That could be it. It has so many switches that I don't know about. There is not any literature on all the switches.
I need to post some questions about switches and what they do I guess. The brake switch would be behind the drivers lower dash panels in the air manifold atleast I think so. I dont think this will be something you can repair in the yard. Usually aroundmiles they need replaced. The only replaceable parts were the TECU, top cover, and of course the entire trans.
So ANY kind of internal damage resulted in replacing the entire trans. The input shaft bearing has a end play reading of 0".
So any play in the input shaft resulted in trans replacement. Im no engineer, but having a single countershaft and an input bearing with 0 endplay sounds like trouble.By kscarbelJuly 10, in Trucking News.

Volvo Trucks North America has begun a recall to of 23, units to deal with a potential clutch problem, the manufacturer advised the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The recall was outlined in a letter from Volvo, whose U.
No crashes or injuries have been reported in connection with the condition. The recall began July 2 with a message to dealers, and tractor owners will be notified of the recall by Aug. And with increased use of air suspension systems, roads, goods and drivers enjoyed a much more comfortable life. Furthermore, with the introduction of new legislation and the continuing process of international harmonisation, not only were trucks able to provide optimal transport efficiency as a sole means of transport, but also in combination with other forms of transportation such as railways, shipping and air transport.
Now check out the Volvo trucks of the '80s in more sophisticated detail. Most trucks built by Volvo have been designed for a wide variety of different transport tasks and for global use. Sometimes national legislation has forced the introduction of very special trucks designed for one single country and built in fairly limited numbers. Swiss legislations Perhaps the most unique special legislation has traditionally been enforced by Switzerland, for a number of reasons.
Switzerland's special landscape and road conditions including severe winters have necessitated restricting the width of the vehicles to cm, while most European countries have always permitted a maximum width of cm today cm for refrigerated transport. The hilly landscape and other factors including the need to restrict the efficiency of trucks in favour of the railway have also contributed to the fact that Switzerland has restricted the GVW and train weights to levels below those normally valid for other countries.
For this reason, Volvo decided to make a special version 'CH' for the Swiss market, combining the F89 truck which was made two years longer than the F89 truck in itself with the narrow F86 front axle and a narrow N10 rear axle, thus offering a very powerful truck for an intermediate period, until a new specially adapted truck was available. A compact powerful truck The second and final version of the CH truck was presented early in at the Geneva truck show.
Thanks to its optimal adaptation to Switzerland sometimes with a cab painted in the Swiss colours of red and white the CH soon gained a fair market share of the fairly small but respected Swiss truck market. Due to the limited permitted total length and GTW figures, Swiss trucks often have had more than two, often three or even four, axles. For this reason the CH was most often delivered as a four-axle 8x4 chassis for construction work, something which contributed to the elegant shape of these powerful narrow compact trucks The CH was a success.

Clutch is working as advertised when air is removed. When power is removed from quick exhaust solenoid it does not exhaust air in the clutch circuit to allow the clutch to engage.Twig filter arraycollection
Dismantled solenoid and cleaned, appears to be OK. Reinstalled but no joy. If engine is stopped and air system pressure begins to bleed off it will eventually exhaust as it should. My conclusion is either a bad solenoid, which it sure doesn't look bad, or way too much pressure on the wet tank output air circuit. Could not locate the specified pressure required out of the protection regulator on the wet tank.5th class general science book pdf
